“Runners just do it – they run for the finish line even if someone else has reached it first.” ~Author Unknown
I ran a 10 K two weeks ago. Though ‘run’ is a stretch. It was a run turn jog turn shuffle turn all out booking it for the last 7/10ths of a mile. That last part felt amazing as I just went with it and the end was in sight. But after? After was a Plantar Fasciitis flare up that left me hobbling around Prospect Park. With each step I had to take a few deep breaths with fists and butt cheeks clenched. I put on sunglasses as the pain was so excruciating that tears were inevitable. I didn’t cry but I did sit down for an hour and put my best ‘No, I’m not going to chop off my feet underneath this here tree’ face. It worked though I spent the rest of the day limping through the streets of Brooklyn.
Excedrin, Epsom salt, Malbec. These things I will alleviate the pain.
Despite wanting to curl up in a ball and die from pain, it felt good. So good that I all but jumped at the chance to train again. I think it’s knowing that I will not die or come in last and that along the way there are always people to cheer you on.

Well done! The hurty bit will pass. The awesomeness will not.
Nice job lady. I’m proud of you. Racing makes you realize just how crazy runners really are. Welcome to the club.
Okay, I just donated to the cause, but on my husband’s account b/c I don’t have a paypal account.
I feel your plantar fasciitis pain…I had that after walking a half marathon. Holy hell my feet hurt. Never again!
Congrats. Nice Work.
I’m proud of you and despise you out of jealousy, all at the same time. Well, not the plantar fasciitis part. That sucks.
