“A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety.” ~Ansel Adams
This is Sherice.
This is Sadye.
Now follow along: Sherice is a colleague/friend. Sadye is my cousin. Sherice’s cousin is also Sadye’s cousin. Sherice’s cousin is my cousin. Sherice and Sadye aren’t cousins and neither are Sherice and I. And this is why they call it “SMALLbany”. Everywhere you go you are either related to someone or know them or hell, your parents know them. Once my mother’s secretary caught me at the mall when I wasn’t supposed to be at the mall and she totally told my mother and now I work with her – my mother and her secretary – and I cannot let that shit go.
But I digress.
I have fallen in love. Well, back in love. With my 50 mm (f/1.4 for interested parties). I fell back in love so hard and I’m in the type of love that makes you feel like time has stopped when you’re together.
You guys? I think my 50 mm and I are going to go all the way!

I love them both but I ESPECIALLY love the one of Sadye. LOVE.
I love the nifty fifty! I haven’t broken mine out in a long time, but I’ve shot some of my best portraits with it. It seems to capture eyes so well. You’ve inspired me to dig mine out again.
I absolutely love love love my 50mm lens. It makes me ridiculously happy. Your pictures are stunning.
I could not stop laughing on the part about you letting that shit go about being ratted out by your moms secretary. There were times when I was in high school and I would see a friend of my moms from far away and we would make eye contact and sure enough by the time I got home my mom was pissed that I had ditched and was at the mall instead of school. I still dislike those friends of her and I refuse to say hello…it’s like they forgot what it was like to be a teenager. Now as an adult and mother I wonder if I will have friends ratting out my kids if they are seen out ditching school? Luckily for now they are only 8 yrs old and 3 yrs old, so it will be a while before I have to deal with that.
