Taken for Granite

“Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of traveling.”  ~Margaret Lee Runbeck

If you haven’t been following along probably because I don’t think I mentioned it; I’ve been in New Hampshire for the last ten days. Ten entire days in Concord. At the start there was a lot of sighing and eye rolling and serious questions as to whether or not there would be any black people there because black people don’t do northern New England. What? I’ve seen studies and we talk about it in our secret black people meetings.

If you follow me on Twitter then you know that I am loving New Hampshire. It’s a beautiful state and the people are kind and Concord is lovely and I took the most amazing yoga class Sunday morning and then went to my favorite hangout spot The Common Man. The same restaurant that has half-price wine on Wednesdays. As my friend Leah said, “Your #NH tweets make me think you’ve skipped the Rapture and just gone straight to heaven.”

I’m enjoying myself. It’s nice to be on a work related break. But not on vacation but working. Does that make sense? Because my life has become all kinds of ‘just pack up and go’ lately. The last two months have been an adventure of epic proportions and every morning I wake up and I am so thankful.

Even on the gray days.
