Buddha Belly

Luck is what you have left over after you give 100 percent.”  ~Langston Coleman

There comes a point in the life of every political nerd where they’d like to take a breather from elections. Just long enough to let the joy and reality of the last victory (or the despair of the last defeat) to settle in and then it’s onward. There is that diminishing marginal utility factor wherein the satisfaction derived from the high of working on a campaign slowly dissipates leaving one exhausted and with a slightly larger ass due to a diet of coffee (with cream of course), donuts and anything that can be inhaled while doing leaflet drops. The feelings start off with “Democracy is AWESOME! I LOVE THIS SHIT” to “You know, a dictatorship wouldn’t be half bad. Let’s give that a spin.”

Anyway, this is Scott:

Scott Murphy

Since the day I met him, I thought that he was brilliant, engaging and an all around nice guy who really wants to go to Congress. He’s vying for Senator Gillibrand’s old seat. If he wins, I will prance around my apartment with a martini and be in generally good spirits for my OH MY FUCKING FUCK five hour trip to Buffalo on Wednesday. If he loses then, let’s all be thankful that I’m attending a party with an open bar.

Until then, I need a little luck on my side so I can focus on fun things like running 13.1 miles and moving and OH MY FUCKING FUCK where does one get a couch from? And Personal Essays; yay or nay?

I need a buddha belly to rub or a rabbit foot or a cauldron with some sort of Harry Potter type thing going on if you’re into that shit. Whatever works.

Personal essays: yay. I recommend “The Art of the Personal Essay” collection, edited by Philip Lopate. Great inspiration.

My belly is very much like Buddha’s. You may rub it if you wish.

    Fingers crossed for you.
