The tip of my ire

“The world needs anger.  The world often continues to allow evil because it isn’t angry enough.”  ~Bede Jarrett

So! Yesterday some chick subbing for Laura Ingraham (and I do listen to conservative talk radio because I like to know my enemy) called the Obamas ‘trash’. I haven’t listened to the entire show and only read about it via Huffington Post and heard the clip WITH the context. Let’s just say that BURNING RAGE is only the tip of the angry iceberg. But I suppose that’s what these people do? They say things for shock value and to get that knee jerk reaction.

Here’s the article from Huff post along with the soundbite. If the Obamas are trash then I am homeless and these pearls are made from the tabs off a pepsi can.

I feel nauseous. But yay to her for turning more people against the increasingly backwards right-wing party.

Here’s her e-mail by the way. I’m about to send her hate mail–hope others will do the same.

Look how quickly my favorite quote came in handy.

    Hmmmmm.

I’m probably going to get some sort of backlash for this, but I’ve always held that speaking ill of the president in office is poor form. Speak ill of the sitting president in the privacy of your home if you will, and kindly criticize or question the sitting president in public if you will, but to speak ill of the president publicly has always grated me the wrong way. I have long felt that the union of this nation matters more than one person’s personal opinion (exaggerated or not) about the country’s leader(s).

So of course this irritates me just a tad.

But then, again, you can imagine how I felt the last few months and years when it became commonplace, even hip, to speak ill of our last president’s character and choices. Whether or not you agree with President Obama, this woman’s comment is out of line.

I just hope people aren’t upset purely because she’s insulting Obama. I hope they’re upset because THIS IS THE PRESIDENT.

She came across as ignorant and hateful. No one I want to listen to, ever.

Ignorant people make me very angry. It’s disgusting.

Her wikipedia entry currently says this in the “Personal Life” section:

Bruce holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California.
She is also known to devour the feet of aborted fetuses, all in her attempt to get back at “the liberal media and the hollywood establishment”. Bruce is a well known sufferer of schizophrenia, and has been known to babble utter nonsense on the nation’s airwaves. She is considered to be armed and mentally handicapped.

I just came back to see what other comments had been accumulated. And I noticed that in your Twitter it says you can name all of the Brangelina children, you wealth of knowledge, you.

I think the question is: I have a new neighbor, close enough that she’s causing traffic problems, her name is Nadya Suleman, you may have heard of her? Can you name all of her kids too?

Because if you can, I want you to come over here and solve world peace and also figure out a solution to the traffic woes related to her house.

@Sarah above, I have no problem w/ someone speaking ill of a president, it’s just that I like those opinions to be backed up. And I would defend anyone’s right to speak however they choose, about whomever they choose. No backlash, though. I totally understand the sentiment, and felt a little of that when Bush had that shoe thrown at him. It wasn’t that a shoe was thrown at Bush, but at the representative of the US, if that makes any sense.

It’s just in this case, I think the speaker, Laura Ingraham is blatantly wrong. You don’t need to love your president, lord knows I don’t agree w/ Obama one hundred percent of the time everytime and I voted for him. But the Obamas themselves? I think they are nothing if not pretty damned classy. But then again, she’s the one who blasted Meghan McCain for being overweight, rather than you know intelligently refuting McCain’s statements. (Namely, those statements are that Ann Coulter is offensive and insulting and who could disagree?)

Damn, just realized it was Bruce and not Ingraham who made the statement. Whoops. Either way. Michelle is so not trash in any sense of the word.

    Hoohoohoo! I love it.

I disagree with the President on many, if not most, of his policies, but I would not call him or his wife “trash.” Ad hominem attacks diminish the level of the argument and make the person leveling the attack look stupid. If your argument is valid, you do not need to resort to personal attacks. Keep it at the level of ideas. Name calling is for people who can’t think.

PS I read liberal news so I can know what my opponent is thinking. :)
