How about we discuss how I almost threw up on a plane?

“There are only two emotions in a plane:  boredom and terror.”  ~Orson Welles

We interrupt these great NaBloPoMo posts of late to instead bring you an update on the whereabouts of our intrepid host. You see, originally she had plans to show you photos of the most delicious cupcakes she’s ever made in life or perhaps she was going to tell you about her utterly pleasant day that involved sitting around over a leisurely breakfast just chatting away and laughing her ass off and then an empty IKEA store for her to roam. But all of this was brought to a sudden halt when as she was about to tell you about kittens and rainbows she experienced the worst turbulence she has ever experienced in her life. Not to brag but I don’t know if you know that your host has flown across the Atlantic like 12 times. She’s flown between Europe and Africa and back again. She’s flown across the United States, never north but often south and not once has she ever had the pleasure of experiencing turbulence so bad that she didn’t know whether to curl up in the fetal position and accept her fate or vomit while going bumpity, bump, bump over the Delaware River. She quickly ceased with all writing and overuse of adjectives to grip white knuckled to her armrest with Baltimore so close yet so far away.

Hopefully we’ll hear from her tomorrow. After the nausea has subsided and she’s secured a train ticket back to her home 400 miles north. But for now we wait and hope that come morning she won’t exclaim fuck flying and decide on driving everywhere. Though if that is the case, how do you all feel about chipping in for a Subaru?

Yikes! I’m not nearly as worldly as you, but I’ve gone through some pretty gnarly turbulence. It sucks. Glad you made it off in one piece.

I threw up on my recent flight back from Hawaii. A throbbing migraine plus constant turbulence plus the remake of Get Smart spelled disaster for my stomach.

That? Was a first for me.

Dude, that sucks. Sounds like what happens to me every time I get in a boat!

Wow, that is unfortunate. Glad you’re ok. For the record, your Orson Welles quote today perfectly sums up how I feel about flying.

Ugh. I had the same experience yesterday flying home from a OH to DC. I had the sick bag in my hand the entire flight. Never done that before and I hope I never do.

I’m working on an adorable little Subaru Fund icon for your sidebar.

This is why I pretend to be reading on every flight I take, but I am instead uttering Hail Mary’s on an endless loop. I wonder if anyone notices that I never turn a page in my book.

I hate turbulence. HATE. But then, I hate flying in general. Am totally afraid of it. But to be nauseous AND trapped on a plane? OMG, you poor thing!

I don’t mind flying. But I HATE turbulence. I am a delicate flower and my equilibrium is not good with all the bumps. I always look for the barf bag, just in case.

OMG I once had a pilot lie and say the turbulence should only last a minute. Lasted the rest of the flight and the flight attendant sat on the floor because she couldnt walk to the back of the plane. YEA Fun! Loved that flight.

I once threw-up in my hands during shitty turbulence. Thanks, Midwest Express. Thanks for not re-loading the Air-Sick bags. Thanks, Midwest Express Air-Steward for pretending not to hear me when I asked for one. Asshole.

Oh man I haven’t had that feeling in a long time! My first flight ever was across the Atlantic so I understand the feeling.

Ugh. I’ve taken to feeling nauseous for every take off and landing these days. It’s pushing me towards the realm of not wanting to travel anymore *gasp*. Can you believe it? Hold out hope, you will recover!

I have never ever ever once gotten air sick until coming back from London Gatwick in the spring of ’05 ( a flight I’ve taken at least 20 times — as the hubby is British and we had, at one time, our home over there) on a British Airways flight and had been bumped to First Class (how I ever was able to fly coach again after that remains a mystery)and thought everything was PERFECT. I had just finished a glass of red wine and chicken marsala when I became violently ill. All over my lovely blanket. Much to the disgust of my fellow First class passengers.

The next day, after waking up and becoming ill again, I realized it probably wasn’t air sickness but something much more common. It seems I brought back a little something extra with me from my trip to pack up our home in the UK.

    A baby!

Yep, managed to get myself knocked up whilst back in the mother land! Quite ironic that our little AmeriBrit baby was actually “Made in the UK.”

Sorry for the story, just couldn’t help myself.

Hope you feel better Heather and this isn’t a recurring thing.
