I'm 52. I started a blog at age 49 to document the year I was turning 50. My 72-year-old mom reads my blog. So does my 24-year-old son. When you tire of reading mommy blogs, feel free to drop by. Sometimes us old women write about our children. Sometimes we write about aging. I wish more older women would be willing to write about their experiences, if only to make aging women less invisible to the world.

My dad started his own blog a few weeks ago. It's horrific. The best part is he thinks it's going to become a huge and famous blog. And yet, he doesn't post on it.

Dude, our parents can be such losers.

My mom had a blog for a while. It lasted a year. I bring it up whenever she brings up "all those piano lessons" she paid for.

Make sure to draw little boxes in your mom's Mother's Day Ultimatum card. You know, like in grade school. So it would like a bit like PICK ONE: [ ] BLOG or
[ ] GRANDCHILDREN. Then make her decide right there on the spot!

That would rival the time my brother sent my mom flowers for Mother's Day and had the florist write the following loving sentiment on the card: Happy Mother's Day, Mom! Try not to get drunk like you usually do! Love, Your Son

Also, I am doing everything in my power to make sure my mom never so much as hears the word "blog". We'll see how long I'm able to be successful with this strategy...

I would totally read your mom's blog.

Although, I wouldn't really like if MY mom had a blog.

So I feel ya.
