Pretty much the gist of it

“Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You’ll learn from them - if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It’s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn’t education. It’s history. It’s poetry.” - J.D Salingeror…Me in 10 Seconds…or more than you probably really wanted to know…Look, Ma, two hands! My name is Heather B. Yes, people have always called me Heather B, including my parents and brothers. In fact, my last name is B.I’m 23 years old which some consider a ‘zygote’.I’m from Upstate NY. I once told Barack Obama that in an elevator, to which he replied “Ooh, it’s cold up there” and then I had to gently remind him that Chicago in the winter isn’t exactly the happiest place on earth.I lived in DC for six years and literally yesterday, moved back to Upstate NY as my own personal form of torture. I want to see if my pinkie finger can endure frostbite.I drink a lot of wine, read a lot of Salinger, shop at Forever 21 and Anthropologie. I wear pearls everyday and yes, this is my hair, yes I really do go to Coach that often and yes I really do drink that much.I’m an introvert though attempting to be a little more gregarious and I’m constantly on a quest to not look like I’m in my second trimester of pregnancy. Though it’s hard out there for a vegetarian on weight watchers trying to curb her carbohydrate intake. My favorite word is pulchritude. Not that I have any of it, but I like the way it rolls of the tongue.I’m rather self-deprecating, I sometimes talk to myself in Spanish, and I have a flair for the dramatic.

I’ve enjoyed your writing for a while, now and the love of wine, pearls and Coach really brought me out of the woodwork! Rock on, sista!

  2. Mocha says:

5th paragraph amendment: “Yes, this is my hair and no, you can’t touch it“. Only because I know of this line of conversation. But a sassy scarf would deter those willing to take their lives into their hands so pick that up today, ok?

Do you get the whole, “Oh, remember Heather B from the first Real World on MTV?” thing all the time? And then do they ask you to rap for them? Or is it just me, the old lady too long a watcher of that show and clearly TOO OLD FOR THE ZYGOTE, HUH?

Actually, you made up for it by mentioning Coach, Anthropologie, and speaking to yourself in Spanish. Probably, I will love you uncontrollably by week’s end.

You have much pulchritude (I had to look that up first) and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite bloggers.

  4. You also read a lot faster than me if you can read all that in ten seconds.

I’m just giving you a hard time.

    I’ll see you in Chicago.

I love this post. The pearls and the hair, excellent information. And the don’t touch it recommendation from Kelly is a good one. I soooo wanted to touch her hair, it’s gorgeous and I’m pretty sure I’ll be driven to put my hands in my pockets and not touch yours lol.

i had to resume eating meat after 7 years of veggieism (yeah, i know it’s not a word) just so i could lose weight.

so i thought. now, you can’t tear me away from bacon.

if you weren’t dramatic, you wouldn’t be interesting at least that is what i keep telling myself.

  7. Maria says:

Two glasses? You go girl! :-)

I cannot become a vegetarian because I don’t think I could live without bacon. I eat very little meat, but I would miss the bacon.

  8. Dagny says:

Dear me. Two people have mentioned bacon. Mmmmm. Bacon.

I like to browse the Anthropologie catalog but the only thing that I’ve ever bought from there are gifts for other people. And I love that you talk to yourself in Spanish. I just mutter curses in Spanish.

  9. Amy says:

I have always loved the sound of “pulchritude,” and until today had never looked it up. Now, having done so, I have decided to keep telling everyone my favorite word is “amiable,” because my name is Amy and I’m quite amiable.

I talk to my dog in Spanish. It doesn’t help, she still has no idea what I’m saying.

  10. Marci says:

What, you? Dramatic? God, when will you ever stop lying! :)

Have fun at BlogHer, and don’t show up for your panel drunk.

  11. Suebob says:

I put on my pearls in honor of you yesterday. Today I have a spectacular yellow daisy-shaped rhinestone necklace. That has nothing to do with you, but it is soooo sparkly.

One of my favorite shrubs is Colonema pulchrum, the pink breath of heaven. Pulchritude - same root.

Hey Amy, I talk to my dog en espanol, too. But I think she understands my most common commands - subete, calmate and for god’s sake para!

  12. chirky says:

Excellent summary. Should be your new “About” page. And that flair for the dramatic? Is why we love you.

  13. htrenda says:

How impressed am I? This is my first time reading your blog and I literally shouted “Oh my God me too!” about eight times, particularly at the vegetarian on weight watchers comment.

  14. Debby says:

    AHhahahahHAHA:

“Though it’s hard out there for a vegetarian on weight watchers trying to curb her carbohydrate intake.”

That is too funny, and I feel your pain. My veggie-self is due at the gym in about two hours.

My favorite word is onomatopoeia….only because I love that i can spell it if asked:P

This is my first time on your blog…and I’m officially hooked.
